Am I an artist or rather not?
In it were my good friend and I when we went to required collation question: why make art? I know almost all you creative being has a kind of mutant germ perpetuation.
It is a common human inclination. Finally, it is much of the momentum that allows us to survive as a species: reprodúcete. Having children is a clear example of the execution of that impulse. In doing this can become creative activities to give life to a work. Be it creative activity. Whether or not defined it as art. But here's the dilemma: What is art Who decides what is or is not? How's the matter?
Basically I do not think anybody has any authority to define such questions. It has been a consensus among intellectuals, artists, philosophers, etc. over time and almost never agree one hundred percent. If we take into account that once had to do with art expertise in some activity, then not only the architect is an artist, the mason who builds a wall with superhuman perfection so is the machine repairman has no pair is, the immaculately mechanic repairs cars and never again break is an artist as well and I found photos of mechanical artist to illustrate my point I will put another mythological animal consolation:
Avocar that only the fine arts are acceptable as art itself I think, but good reference framework, limited and vague at the same time. Leave out other trades or creative activities and the same technical perfection while not readily allows consideration of others.
Classically, the largest arts are more aware of that we have. The minor arts (another highly debatable but consensus has been used by H. Greeks of the ancient world) we are somewhat unrelated to consider them as art is concerned.
Anyway, all this to answer: why do I make art? Is this what I do is art itself? How important is the perpetuation of self through art? And, you see, these questions remain unanswered but I will put some aesthetic value for your consideration:
- Why do you write - 'Cause I like. I like to give life to what I feel, see, hear inside me, and my response was genuine. Personally I long ago stopped worrying about perpetuity. I do not care much about leaving any legacy or memory. Exist because it automatically. What one does affects eternity, well say. Inevitably act and go their mark because of that we were warned by the law of karma of the consequences of our actions. For this reason, in part, I do not care act to perpetuate myself. When thinking about the human will become extinct, Earth will be destroyed at some point and let the universe itself seems to be totally irrelevant perpetuate myself willingly. I am dedicated to creative activities, it is clear, and the thirsty personema pampering we call ego basks in the attention it receives but not my favorite section of a human being and I prefer to put little or no attention to your cat's eyes.
So you want my ego works and perpetual care? Yes I care to be remembered centuries? Not really. Do I believe what I do is art? For me yes it is. For personal expression, emotion, aesthetics and creative impulse for me it is. Do I want people to like? Not so much. More than wanting to, I'm interested because it is what I do and to hold me, better than many people resonates in me that his millions. - But art, good Yang, is a social act. For art is the reflection is needed in someone else -. I said this friend of mine while I struggled with the most difficult burger to eat the world. Just that last (the art, not the burger) got me thinking a while a week later still not over. And that at a party where also discussed pressing issues, that wisest of the wise, my brother with whom I sometimes confuse myself settled my tribulations with -Will define it only serves to narrow the focus of what you do and stop doing, that is precisely the issue -. And then we laughed, we agreed on everything and then we went on with my foolish to think if we are all art. Also we had a living principle and perhaps something, knowingly or not, is perpetuated through our existence.
