Ilustraciones de Julien Pacaud

Illustrations by Julien Pacaud

Julien Pacaud is a French artist and illustrator whose career spans from the arts to work experiences as an astrophysicist, international manager, hypnotist and Esperanto teacher. All this has generated in the artist a particular style that is easily identifiable through their publications and web presence, however, his work is also very similar to that being developed today for being such a recurring theme in several contemporary illustrators. However, Julien Pacaud has called our attention to the amount of editorial, commercial and musical works that make up your portfolio.

Obsessed with time and the cosmos, Julien works often consist of collage and juxtaposition of images that reflect a social and media discourse on the experience of the collective imagination of the technology, consumerism and the astral. With these rural dwellers galactic or metaphysical spaces, Julien achieves this surreal encounter between vintage and futuristic geometric resources by which predominate triangles, circles and cubes, giving a subtle harmony of the composition.

Valentina Avilés Among stories and pictures

Valentina Avilés Among stories and pictures
When re-draw it reality, or even transmute the world of stories and vivid scribbles,  Valentina Avilés  is able to capture on paper the images stored in your eyes.

Exaggerated characters, dressed as animals, colors that are hidden within the pages of books and even textures that play with imagination forms are some characteristics of jobs that  Valentina  has proposed in his drawings for children's stories. Meticulous and perfectionist, takes 6 years recreating your own reality artwork.

His story is simple, while she was studying the first semester of graphic design at the University Model ,  in Mérida, Yucatán, dedicated his free time to wander with brush and leaves, creating drawings and illustrations for itself. One day, his sister came to his desk tasks without more, I uttered the phrase that would determine the course of the following years: "your drawings are childish, you should work on stories for children.

" In that time she has not learned how to take the comment, but soon the echo of it would impact his career as a designer, and was as well as during social service, studying just the third semester, he ran into the possibility of the illustrations for children's short stories, for the School of Psychology at the same university, there it all started.

Passion began what would become of Valentina. From that moment the snowball grew and grew exponentially and inevitably. Just one semester after completing their first project, members of the Association for Research and Popular Education Autogestiva, AC (IEPAAC) invite her to participate in the illustration of teaching materials for children.

In 2011 she found work in the Editorial Dante, where he developed projects like the illustrations from the collection of classic tales of  Hans Christian Andersen  and the  Brothers Grimm , among many others, gradually, he would slide featuring on his pencil on paper.

"What really makes the desert beautiful is that it hides a well anywhere."

Phrase rescued from The Little Prince  describes the invitation  Valentina  makes people illustrate when remembering on their own experience are the tiniest and seemingly insignificant details that rescue us and give us a sense or an "I do not know why" capable of exerting a force of gravity, which paints with colors our moments. So, with brush in hand and well put imagination on the head,  Valentina  Aviles  is ready to share a bit of this idea through their artwork.

Salad Fingers: entre lo gracioso, lo bizarro y terrorífico.

Salad Fingers: entre lo gracioso, lo bizarro y terrorífico.
Have you ever stroked gently with his fingertips a rusty object such as a spoon? You've never experienced the pleasures of her body rub with freshly picked nettles? These behaviors may seem strange, but it makes no sense in the desolate world Salad Fingers , curious green humanoid, thin, with a squeaky little voice, imaginary friends and sick mind, star of the series of the same name created by David Firth , filmmaker English and animator born in 1983.

The series consists of ten chapters with a duration of between one and ten minutes. It is made with flash animation, but using an austere style, which gives you some gloomy and depressing aesthetics. Each chapter has a chilling soundtrack, distressing meaningless decorations and patterns as well as a mysterious ingredient that prevents one to pause the player. Probably the curiosity, curiosity or taste so twisted, so it makes we move into the world devoid of sanity.

Surrealism, black humor and psychological terror are the three elements that come together in the series, leaving questions and lagoon  mind after seeing what appears to be the product of a delusional artist, or schizoid maniac.
What is the meaning of this series, if any? Is it simply the result of a creative madness? In the first instance, seems to have no case to seek meaning Salad Fingers , and just get carried away by strange images. But looking a little deeper we find reflections on loneliness, sadness, masochism and perhaps a criticism of human self-destruction, it is recurring mention of a "great war", apparently devastated that fictional world.
Whether we like the bizarre, we want to spend time or desire to identify ourselves shivering interpreting each chapter of the series, ultimately it is a job that is worth appreciating for its impeccable production and unusual proposal.

Poetic Intent: the heart that beats in the walls

Poetic Intent: the heart that beats in the walls
In times where the fragility, submission, fear, mistrust and paranoia reign scurrying through the streets, where virtual atrophy rather than allowing you to walk, where eye contact is devalued, reading is a waste of time unless reading labels and spectacular, and the sigh is heard verses to old-fashioned ... A red heart looks at what Grizzly urban, further evidence of the effects of the word.

Poetic Action is a movement that was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1996. It consists of an artistic and social intervention, taking the walls by way of "graffiti" or "street art" sharing poems, love messages.Usually they are encouraging, with the intent to positively impact on the daily lives of people.
Its founder, Mexican poet Armando Alanis, author of publications such as The delicate rubble andjumps on the moon, he realized that poetry was not only a literary genre and although it requires a special sensitivity and a mastery of technique and other things to be a literary poet, this does not mean that people do not need the poetic in his life (and that each poem and poet who, although have not yet discovered). "The people do not read poetry, does not mean you do not need it" is one of the stalwarts of Alanis .

Then, from 1996, Alanis every Sunday goes laden paint cups and brushes to intervene a different wall, to give it life. Sometimes painting a verse taken from his work sometimes and sometimes make appointment.
It has achieved another dimension of poetry that transcends even the visual poetry and poetry is really "in action". The verses are poetry embodied, but the intent and effects of this are also poetic. They are poetic acts. If someone's having a bad accident and have been taken by a verse and that woke him smile, that's poetry.

A secret of this movement, or poetry, is not generated or hits from the right. It is not something that needs to be proven scientifically or something to send subliminal messages or blatant "want to buy".This is substantially of love and poetry, a language to another level, words are transferred from unconscious to unconscious and that one way or another, talk about ourselves, we concern, because the poesis is part of human existence.

“Todos somos UNO” por Javier Muñoz Salas (Chile)

“Todos somos UNO” por Javier Muñoz Salas (Chile)
This time we have the pleasure to present Javier Muñoz Salas , a born artist from Chile he shares some of his work. Worth noting its focus on the search for unity, "tune with the whole," and eventually, true happiness, we find these elements in their work. Without further ado, we leave you with Javier .
I'm not an artist by profession or trade. I just think experience in painting, drawing, photography, writing, are part of a more general reflection I call  Path of Unity . This way of understanding the world and live accordingly, involves recognizing the unity of all things and serve that result.
In a world full of selfishness, is only possible transformation of social reality if humans understand that true happiness occurs when we find our will in harmony with the whole.Getting people to think in that sense, is my main intention.
Seeking help promote empathetic attitude in recognizing the value of others. Overcoming selfishness that immobilize us in rigid interests and unfounded fears, allows us to resolve conflicts in better shape and live a happier from an open and enriched understanding, altruism and affects life perspective.
In this way I try to convey through various forms of expression that development, the importance of diversity, the beauty of simplicity and the connection between all things. That gives me a deep joy. The art in this way is a symbolic vehicle for me to convey the value of the unit.
Without generalizing, many artists have given people the means, in hypnotic and uncritical inertia occur, nullifying his imagination and wonder. Further work is needed for a transformation of consciousness, where aesthetics action, like others, allow us to understand that we are all one. A way to meet and support for everyone.
